Bayern Munich’s backline had quite the showing during the team’s 4-1 loss to FC Barcelona in the Champions League.
Positionally a mess and rife with bad decisions, the Bayern defense did not exactly have a game to write home about. As expected, the team will get back to work in trying to fix things — and they had better expedite that plan, especially because it does not seem like Kompany is ready to change his tactics.
When asked if he would consider being more cautious so the backline would not be as supported, Kompany deftly evaded giving a real answer.
“I think both teams did that today. If we look back to the press conference yesterday, the talk was about the fact we’re the team that conceded the fewest chances in Europe. We didn’t do everything right today, otherwise we wouldn’t lose 4-1. We must learn from this game and see what we can do better. That’s what will happen,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Change? Stay the same? Who knows…but hopefully things get corrected soon enough. So many breakdowns in the back is just not sustainable.
