One former Liverpool player turned pundit has now claimed that a Chelsea player is losing his pace and tenacity after his form has dropped.
Chelsea made a number of late deals in the summer transfer window, some of them were bigger than others and some of them came from nowhere.
BIG EXCLUSIVE!! Chelsea exploring ambitious move to sign Manchester City centre back as well as watching TWO Benfica defenders!!
As The Blues were looking to tie up a couple late in-comings, they also had to scramble around to make some room in the squad.
It ended up being a case of Jadon Sancho coming in, and Raheem Sterling going out to allow room for Sancho in the squad.
Arsenal snapped up Sterling on loan for the season, and in came Sancho to Stamford Bridge arriving on a loan move from Manchester United. Chelsea fans were certainly very pleases with essentially swapping Sterling for Sancho, and you can understand why.
Sterling hasn’t been at his best for quite some time and he became very frustrating to watch on a weekly basis, but now he is at Arsenal.
Hamann thinks Sterling’s lost it
‘I hope we see the Raheem Sterling we saw at Liverpool and Manchester City, but I don’t think we’ll see him reach those levels at Arsenal,’ former Liverpool midfielder Didier Hamann told Flashscore.
‘He’s 29 years old now, he’s losing his pace and tenacity. If you look at his form, he’s gone backwards since leaving Manchester City. I doubt he’ll improve again.’
I don’t think there will be one single Chelsea fan who disagrees with this. I was surprised that Arsenal wanted to bring Sterling in, even if he could perhaps make an impact off the bench at times and I guess as it’s a loan move, they didn’t have much at all to lose.
I just hope that Chelsea can find a club for Sterling to join permanently in the summer, if Arsenal do not wish to sign him.
