Leon Goretzka is now looking set to stay at Bayern Munich through the end of the 2024/25 season.
The 29-year-old has fallen hard down the pecking under under first-year coach Vincent Kompany. Goretzka is finding playing time hard to come by, and a spot in the XI looks out of the question as Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović, Konrad Laimer, and even newcomer João Palhinha all command higher priority in Bayern’s double pivot rotation this season.
But the German national team veteran seems determined to wait it out, per a recent report from Sport Bild chief reporter Christian Falk, as captured via @iMiaSanMia:
Leon Goretzka doesn’t want to leave Bayern in the January window, that’s his most recent decision. Next summer, if his situation at Bayern doesn’t change, Manchester United would be one of the clubs he’d like to join [@cfbayern via @caughtoffside]
Is there a chance that Goretzka forces his way back into the mix? — or that Bayern have another changing of the guard at coach by next summer’s transfer window?
