Leicester surprisingly sacked Steve Cooper after the defeat vs. Chelsea. Since the start of this season and under the command of Steve Cooper, Leicester have never been in the relegation zone.
There are of course questions to ask, but for a newly promoted team, results are on a level of satisfaction. We totally agree with former Leicester captain Steve Walsh, being a bit baffled about this happening at this point.
Steve Cooper assistant Alan Tate is also out, together witn chief analyst Steve Rands. Ben Dawson will be In charge of first team affairs during the interim period, and until a new manager is appointed. Dawson joined Leicester in the summer from Newcastle and has been in and around the first team since then, as well as part of the work in connection to the a academy and developement squad.
Dawson will most certainly take charge for the Brentford game away, but hopefully a new man is in by the time West Ham comes to visit in two weeks.
The major question at this point is, who will be the next Leicester manager? David Moyes is a fan favourite. Graham Potter is one other, but said to have turned down Leicester twice, and for that not one to approach, being far from the commitment needed to bring this ship to safety.
There are of course a bundle of other names, but to see Nigel Pearson and Lee Carsley being mentioned makes little or no excitement.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is an alternative name. He was linked in the summer and also vacant after leaving Man Utd last week. He is an interesting suggestion, but little experience and a bit of a wild card, but so was Enzo Maresca.
Jose Mourinho is eager to return to Premier League, said to have a goal to become manager of a club not involved in Europe and ready to get out of Turkey as fast as possible. Jose is a major wildcard and his previous experience should see him qualified, but believe his type is not one who would be a good alternative in relation to the clubs ownership and moral.
Previous success with Italian appointments in Claudio Ranieri and Enzo Maresca, should not rule out Roberto Mancini. He is said to have an eye on his only club as a player in Premier League, being at Leicester for a short period 24 years ago. The 59 year old Mancini, turning 60 on the 27th of November, is currently out of management after leaving the job as Saudi Arabia head coach. Mancini would be the ideal appointment. His background as manager is well known and his connection to Leicester is one not to be underestimated.
Roberto Mancini would not be faulted by anyone. He would get the full respect from the player hierarchy at the club, said to have been a challenge for Steve Cooper.
Steve Cooper is gone, but still a heavy job to get this correctly, as pressure again is back on the owners and a certain director of football.
