Pedro Neto has been speaking to the official Chelsea site ahead of a big game against Newcastle this weekend.
The winger called for Chelsea to get their act together after two games without a win, and get back to winning ways against the Magpies. Getting good results at home is an essential part of turning this season into a big success.
“Our group is getting better every day, and what we did showed our character, our personality, our hard-work mentality. We want to continue with that,” Neto explained.
“In the Premier League every game’s a test. So to go there [to Anfield], it was just another game, nothing more important or less important. It was a normal game like any other one. We went there with the personality we showed in other games, and that we will continue to show in every game.
“It’s what the people in the coaching staff have said to us. This is our mentality and we have to continue working hard if we want to be on the top.”
Neto sees his first team chance coming back around
Neto is in an interesting situation right now. He was expected to be a first team regular from the moment he arrived – in fact, of all our summer signings, he looked like the one most likely to be parachuted directly into the first team.
But instead he found his place taken almost immediately by Jadon Sancho, and since then the Portuguese has just been battling to get it back. Sancho has had a drop off in form himself though, and Neto must sense that a good showing as a sub tomorrow might just get him back in the team.
On the other hand, with Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk also pushing for minutes right now, competition has never been fiercer.
