Vincent Kompany’s brand of football has been put in question this early in his tenure, with some terrible results justifying that. The Belgian had a great start with Bayern Munich but stumbled against half-decent teams which put the entire team under scrutiny. Despite that, certain people Karl-Heinz Rummenigge downplayed that notion, which happened to be before Bayern’s Champions League match against FC Barcelona.
“I don’t necessarily see it that way. If you play the style of play that Vincent, has you playing, you press high”, KHR said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “That also applies to the two centre-backs That’s why Manuel Neuer is usually 40 meters away from the goal. You’ll always concede a goal that will annoy you. But our team is willing to learn, and Vincent is on the path with the team to improve these things. At some point, that won’t happen anymore, I’m convinced of that.”
To be fair, he’s right; Bayern just don’t have the personnel at the back keep things together.
