Bukayo Saka immediately justified Mikel Arteta’s decision to hand him a start Sunday, converting the first shot of Arsenal’s clash with Premier League title rivals Liverpool.
The winger missed his side’s last two matches due to injury but showed no signs of rust when Ben White picked him out with a long ball in the ninth minute. Saka cut inside, sending an unbalanced Andy Robertson to the turf, before smashing an explosive effort past Caoimhin Kelleher.
At 23 years and 52 days, Saka is the youngest Arsenal player to score 50 Premier League goals.

Arsenal were undone by a corner-kick routine for the second Premier League match in a row when Virgil van Dijk headed home in the 18th minute. Van Dijk had space to nod the ball in after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s delivery was flicked on by Luis Diaz.
Mikel Merino put Arsenal back in the lead in the 43rd minute with an emphatic header following a fine Declan Rice free-kick.
