Robert Lewandowski is turning back the clock at FC Barcelona as he seems to have found the form that highlighted his peak Bayern Munich days. When asked about his time here, and more particularly about his teammate and friend Thomas Müller in an exclusive interview with Rio Ferdinand, Lewandowski was full of praise for his former teammate.
“Thomas Müller is [a] very intelligent guy…on the pitch, he’s helped me a lot. […] For me, Thomas Müller didn’t have the best shooting, and he didn’t have the technique but in the end, he had an impact on the game. He reads the game like nobody else in football. In my career for example he was always so positive…it doesn’t matter how he scored the goal, but he scored the goal. It doesn’t matter how he played the pass, but the pass was there.
Lewandowski also briefly discussed how Müller would command the pitch in attack and help him press the opposition’s defense and time his runs.
He continued, “So you know, this is exactly Thomas Müller and I loved to play with him. He is the main [man] of this club, Bayern Munich — and I think this club is also the future for him.”
Lewandowski’s unwavering respect for Müller and their deep understanding of each other’s games is exactly why the two formed an unbreakable duo that terrorized Europe for so many years. In fact, his statement closely resembles a famous Uli Hesse quote…
