Bayern Munich will have needed a victory following the 4-1 drubbing experienced midweek against FC Barcelona, and luckily the team was able to bounce back against VfL Bochum. Starting on the bench against Barca, Jamal Musiala played a key role against the Bundesliga bottom boys, capturing both a goal and an assist on the night.
After the match, Musiala spoke to DAZN (captured via @iMiaSanMia) about the night’s proceedings, saying, “It was a good game. It wasn’t always easy for us here in the past few years. We want to make a step forward with every game. We want to score as many goals as possible, keeping a clean sheet was also important. We can be happy today. We want to take the momentum into the coming games.”
Musiala also commented on his goal, a rare header from the midfielder from an incoming Joshua Kimmich free kick, saying, “I made eye contact with Joshua and went for the header. It’s cool to score a header because it’s not a strength of mine.”
While the result against Bochum is positive, the fashion in which Bayern won is ultimately meaningless if the team cannot transfer its form from games against smaller Bundesliga sides into success against teams like Barcelona.
