Piers Morgan branded Erik ten Hag ‘delusional’ and ‘disrespectful’ in the wake of the Dutchman’s sacking from Manchester United.
Ten Hag was relieved of his duties less than 24 hours after he oversaw a 2-1 loss to West Ham United.
Morgan wasted little time in reacting to the news and reminded fans of Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments regarding the Dutchman in 2022.
“Every single word that Cristiano told me about Ten Hag in our explosive interview was born out by events,” Morgan wrote on X.
“He was an over-promoted, delusional, disrespectful, and thoroughly mediocre manager who couldn’t handle world class talent or run a club that size.”

In the interview, Ronaldo ripped into the Dutchman and said he was ‘never going to have respect’ for him if it wasn’t forthcoming from the manager.
“The coach didn’t have respect for me,” Ronaldo said.
“So this is why the relationship, it’s in that way. He keep saying in the press that he come to me, he like me blah, blah, blah, but that is only for the press, 100 per cent.
“If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never going to have respect for you.”
Ronaldo also stated Ten Hag, along with a handful of others, were trying to force him out of United at the time.
Morgan has rarely missed a chance to take a swipe at Ten Hag since Ronaldo’s explosive interview in 2022 and launched a stinging spray at the Dutchman as recently as September.
The 59-year-old appeared on talkSPORT and declared Ronaldo ‘one of the most lethal finishers in world football’ just days after the Portuguese superstar scored his 900th career goal while on international duty.
When asked why United would let him go so easily if that was indeed the case, Morgan replied: “Because Ten Hag is a complete idiot. I’m sorry, he is.
“He has been since he went there, right? He talks in complete gibberish.
“He’s now banging on about Harry Potter or something. Ten Hag is everything Ronaldo told me he was in that interview, which led to him leaving United.
“The biggest problem with Ten Hag, he’s like that bossy little school teacher you get who doesn’t know how to handle supreme academic talent.”
Ten Hag departs with United 14th in the Premier League and have won just four matches across all competitions this season.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who returned to Old Trafford as an assistant coach last summer, will take charge on an interim basis while United conduct their search for a permanent replacement.
