Tottenham Hotspur have been subject to intensive links with a move to sign Leece full back Patrick Dorgu as Ange Postecoglou looks to add depth to the left back position at Hotspur Way. The North Londoners are heavily reliant on Destiny Udogie at left back with the Italian defender having established himself as a mainstay in Australian head-coach’s roster.
However, the dependency on the former Udinese defender means that the club will suffer if the 21-year-old is injured or unavailable, something that we saw at the conclusion of the previous season.
While Daniel Levy couldn’t get an understudy to Udogie in the recently concluded summer transfer window, the American businessman would be looking to add a left back in the upcoming winter window.
Dorgu could strengthen Spurs’ left-back options
The Lilywhites have been subject to links with a move for Patrick Dorgu, who, per the latest report by Football Insider, has been subject to a “huge” race with multiple Premier League heavyweights, including Manchester United and Chelsea, looking to pursue his signatures.
Dorgu has established himself as one of the better talents in the Italian top tier, and his credentials are bagging multiple clubs to look for his signatures. And the fact that he can not only be an understudy but also go on to compete with Udogie for a first-team role would provide the Lilywhites with much-needed depth and competition in the left-back position.
Dorgu can play in the left back as well as the left wingback role, and his experience in Serie A would make him a strong addition to the squad at Hotspur Way.
As we approach the winter transfer window, securing Dorgu could prove crucial for Ange Postecoglou’s ambitions in both domestic as well as European competitions.
