Future Chelsea star Estevao Willian created more history on Friday night as he became the first player under 18 to record 20 goal contributions in an edition of the Brasileirao.
The Blues agreed a deal with Palmeiras for the 17-year-old in the summer worth up to £51.4m, with Estevao thought of as the biggest talent in South America.
The teenager is already a full Brazil international and the Blues have high hopes for the attacker who will join the club next summer when he turns 18.
Estevao creates more history
The signing of Estevao has continued Chelsea’s recruitment drive in South America and it’s a market the club have increasingly tapped into under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
What Estevao is doing at such a young age is outstanding and he recently surpassed Neymar’s record of most goal contributions for an under-17 in the Brazilian league.
The fact he’s a regular for Palmeiras and has already made his debut for the national side shows what an incredible talent he is.
The teenager has been breaking records left, right and centre and on Friday night he made yet another piece of history.
Estevao scored the winner as Palmeiras beat Gremio 1-0 and in doing so he became the first player under the age of 18 to register 20 goal contributions in a single season in the Brazilian league.
The Brazilian has 12 goals and eight assists in 27 league appearances and has made 41 appearances in total for Palmeiras.
Quite what the plan is for Estevao when he arrives at Chelsea isn’t clear, although it’s believed he will go straight into the first team squad and compete for a starting place.
It’s important not to put too much pressure on Estevao when he arrives as he’s still very young and it’s such a big move at such a young age.
If Chelsea can develop him in the right way and provide an environment in which he can thrive in then they genuinely have a future superstar on their hands.
