Last month, Manchester United decided to part ways with manager Erik ten Hag following a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United. ESPN reported, citing sources, that the club’s management lost confidence in Ten Hag’s ability to improve the team’s performance after a disappointing start to the campaign.
After sacking the Dutchman, the Red Devils appointed former Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim. One player that could benefit from the managerial change at Old Trafford is former Paris Saint-Germain ace Manuel Ugarte.
PSG sold Ugarte to Manchester United this past summer for a reported €50 million, with another €10 million possible in add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause. However, it’s been a challenging start to life with the Premier League side.
Ruben Amorim provides Manuel Ugarte with a confidence booster
In an interview with TNT Sports, the Portuguese boss noted that he’s excited to have Ugarte once again as his player and believes that the midfielder has yet to hit his potential.
“All the Uruguayans I managed are incredible and that’s why I love all Uruguayans,” Amorim told the outlet. “Ugarte is a very talented boy and has a lot of room to grow. I am very happy to know that I have him back at Manchester United!”

Moreover, last month, TEAMTalk also stated that the coaching change could benefit Ugarte.
“Ugarte established himself as one of the best ball-winning midfielders in Europe during his two years at Sporting and was named in the Primeira Liga Team of the Year in 2022-23. His impressive performances under Amorim earned him a £51.3 million move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023.”
