The Overlap was brought to a halt by the reaction of Roy Keane to the mention of a West Ham fan favourite.
Roy Keane and Gary Neville may not be to everyone’s tastes but they’re two of the biggest football pundits around.
Keane in particular is noted for his serious demeanour and takes on the beautiful game.
What he said when Jill Scott brought up a former West Ham star had The Overlap’s panel in hysterics and disbelief.
Keane appeared on the latest episode alongside former West Ham star Ian Wright, Paul Scholes, Scott and Neville.
Usually the show focuses – as most things relating to Sky Sports seem to – on the so-called “Big Six”.
Occasionally the likes of West Ham and other clubs in the “Other 14” are the subject of any meaningful discussion.
That did not change for the Hammers this week.
But there was a little Easter egg for West Ham fans.
Scott was relaying a story to the rest of the panel about a charity game she had just played in.
That’s when the name of a former West Ham star and current club employee was brought up.
What Keane said in response has already gone viral.
It had Neville spitting his water out, Scott begging to keep the clip in and Wright and Scholes struggling to hold it together.
Marlon Harewood is a big fan favourite in east London and always will be.
Best remembered of course for that goal against Middlesbrough which sealed West Ham’s place in the 2006 FA Cup final.
Big, powerful, pacy and with a shot like a rocket, Harewood was a great servant for West Ham.
What the club would do for a striker with his attributes right now.
Harewood is still very much involved with the Hammers, working on matchdays as a West Ham ambassador.
With no Hammers matches due to the international break, Harewood was pulling his boots back on for a charity clash against the likes of Scott.
He clearly still keeps himself in good shape, judging by what Scott had to say about the former Hammers star.
But Keane twisted her comments in a very different direction and the reaction was priceless.
Former Hammer suddenly sees his name go viral
It’s been billed by The Overlap as ‘the funniest moment’ in the Stick to Football show’s history.
Scott noted how massive and strong Harewood is, revealing he smashed her during a defeat in the charity clash.
“I was playing in a charity game at the weekend and Marlon Harewood absolutely smashed us,” Scott said.
“He’s a big guy!”
Wright and Scholes interjected in agreement, saying: “Yea he’s a big lad, a big old thing Marlon.”
Then came Keane’s show-stopping response: “And what was the game like?”
We probably can’t do the rest justice, you just have to watch it for yourself in the post below.
Classic Keane and no doubt this will raise a few smiles in and around the London Stadium when Harewood returns to his duties in the next couple of weeks.
Scott took the good humoured innuendo well and urged The Overlap production team to ‘Please keep that in’.
Harewood scored a fantastic 56 goals in 170 appearances for West Ham across four seasons.
But given the popularity of The Overlap and Keane, he will now probably be better known for this charity game for the foreseeable future.
