Richard Hughes is a busy man ahead of the January transfer window.
Anfield Watch understands the Reds are monitoring the situation of an exciting wonderkid from Paris Saint Germain.
Meanwhile, we exclusively revealed the club have held preliminary talks with the representatives of Milos Kerkez, although that move is understood to be one in mind for the summer rather than the January window.
Elsewhere, reports have suggested the Reds are preparing a move for French superstar Rayan Cherki, and he might not be the only player from the country on Hughes’ radar.
Liverpool monitoring Desire Doue at Paris Saint Germain
Hughes and Edwards will be determined to make the upcoming windows a success for Liverpool after a slightly disappointing window back in the summer.
One player who could be on the club’s radar as well as the aforementioned Cherki and Kerkez is PSG’s Desire Doue.
Anfield Watch understands the Reds are long-term admirers of the 19 year old attacking prospect, who only moved to the French giants in the summer for a whopping €50m.
However, Doue has struggled with game time since arriving at PSG and he is currently unhappy at the club having started just thee games so far this season.
Anfield Watch understands Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation with Doue highly regarded by the club’s scouts.
Why Doue makes sense for Liverpool
It’s a difficult deal for Liverpool to pull off. However, if Doue continues for game time for the rest of the season at PSG, the youngster will be keen to move on in the summer.
That is when Liverpool could swoop to bring him into the club.
By then he will still only be 20 years old and still regarded as one of the biggest French prospects, having made close to 100 senior appearances and having been a regular in Ligue 1 since he was 17 years old.
In fact, he is the second youngest player to score for Rennes behind Eduardo Camavinga and ranks in the top ten youngest players to debut in the club’s history.
Having so much experience at such a young age makes Doue a very attractive target for Liverpool.
On top of that, he’s also got a lot of versatility. He can play on the left and the right wing and has done so throughout his career. But he can also play in central roles as an attacking midfielder or a number 10.
That would give plenty of roles for him to play in Arne Slot’s system and it’s why a move by the Reds makes a lot of sense.
For now, this is one to keep a close eye on.
