Arsenal are in talks over a contract extension for Leandro Trossard, offering him a significant pay increase to send his weekly wage into six figures.
Sami Mokbel reports for the Daily Mail that Arsenal are in talks with Leandro Trossard over a new contract with a significant pay rise to reward the player for his contributions since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Trossard signed a four-year deal in January 2023 worth £90,000-a-week, but a new contract would send that wage into six figures.
Arsenal are keen to reward the Belgian for his performances, having previously rebuffed transfer interest in him from Saudi Arabia.
Reports in Trossard’s native Belgium all the way back in September had revealed that a new contract was on the agenda for Arsenal.
Niewsblad claimed that the Gunners hadn’t yet opened talks, but they did intend to make him an offer. Mokbel’s update suggests that’s now happened.
Al-Ittihad made a bid in the region of £25m for Trossard this summer, but Arsenal immediately turned it down, informing the Saudi club that the player wasn’t for sale at any price.
Trossard has gone on to make 15 appearances for Arsenal so far this season, playing a regular role in Martin Odegaard’s injury absence.
The Belgium forward’s own fitness is currently in doubt ahead of Arsenal’s match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday following an injury on international duty, and you can read more about his injury situation here.
