According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has been given permission to speak with the family of Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz regarding a potential move to the Allianz Arena:
Florian #Wirtz is FC Bayern’s top transfer target for the upcoming summer. This has been unanimously agreed upon internally at all levels. The transfer is of the highest priority.
Max Eberl has already been given permission to enter the negotiations and has initiated talks with Wirtz’s family as revealed. However, Eberl urgently needs to secure player sales. Bayern is prepared to spend more than €100 million on the transfer.
⚠️The main competitors: Real Madrid and Manchester City!
Interestingly, Real Madrid, who reportedly considers Wirtz a “dream transfer”, and Manchester City, where Pep Guardiola is rumored to be intrigued by Wirtz, could be Bayern Munich’s biggest competitors.
While it feels like Bayern Munich represents the next logical step of Wirtz’s career, the enticement of what those clubs can offer from a financial and platform standpoint could make Wirtz think twice.
In addition, Wirtz’s coach, Xabi Alonso, is rumored to be on Real Madrid’s shortlist to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
So, yeah, Eberl had better get busy.
