Aston Villa could be set to deal West Ham United a very big problem in the January transfer window.
The upcoming January transfer window will be a vitally important one for West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui and Aston Villa boss Unai Emery.
Both the Hammers and the Villans are keen to bolster their respective attacking ranks at the London Stadium and Villa Park this winter.
Lopetegui is feeling the heat right now, with many of his summer signings having failed to impress, and he is facing the sack within the next week if reports are to be believed.
If he is still in charge this winter, his remit has to be bringing in some exciting, talented young players.
We have the oldest squad in the Premier League, so an injection of talented youth will be a must as far as I’m concerned.
Tim Steidten isn’t escaping the blame either – he has to seriously up his game in January.
However, it seems like we’ve already been handed a big problem before the window has even opened…
West Ham blow as Aston Villa eye January transfer window swoop
As we all know, Villa have tremendous pull right now.
They are competing at the very highest level in the Champions League, and Emery has his team playing some really attractive football.
They have super wealthy and incredibly ambitious owners, and they’re on a real upward trajectory right now.
The setup at Villa Park feels like complete chalk and cheese to the goings on at the London Stadium in truth.
And now the west Midlands outfit could be set to cause us a very big problem it seems.
According to a report from Turkish outlet Star, Aston Villa are keen to sign Semih Kilicsoy in January, with Besiktas demanding around £21 million for the super talented young attacker.
Now, that’s a big issue for West Ham because we are believed to be plotting a move to sign the 19-year-old winger.
If Villa come in for the young Turk, our hopes of bringing him to East London could well be dead in the water.
Semih Kilicsoy playing style and stats
He has a decent record for someone so young, with 13 goals and seven assists in 55 games for Besiktas to his name (Transfermarkt).
Kilicsoy can play as a left or right winger, or even through the middle as a striker if need be.
That kind of versatility means that he can be a really useful tactical weapon for his team.
The teenager is incredibly mobile, possesses really impressive movement and has blistering pace in abundance.
Importantly, the four-capped Turkey international is a very hard worker as well, and always puts in a defensive shift.
He’s very calm and composed in front of goal, and his strong mentality defies his tender years.
Semih Kilicsoy would be a terrific addition for West Ham in the January transfer window but unfortunately for us, it seems like Aston Villa could be in the box seat for his signature.
