Former West Ham manager David Moyes is set to return for a second stint at Everton as soon as the Merseyside club’s takeover is ratified.
Current Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri has endured a horrendous few years since becoming the majority shareholder. Moshiri was close to selling the club to former West Ham prospective owners, 777 Partners, last season, only to see the deal collapse.
It is now being reported that the new ownership group headed by Dan Friedkin has taken a dim view of Everton’s current form, which sees them just one place below the Hammers in 15th and, more importantly, only three points above the Premier League relegation zone.
As a result, Sean Dyche is seen as surplus to requirements at Goodison Park, particularly given that Everton have failed to score a single goal in November. This was highlighted yesterday when they failed to break down a Brentford team reduced to ten men for the entire second half.
Everton are now expected to approach Moyes, who has been flirting with the Toffees’ job all season following the expiry of his West Ham contract in June.
