West Ham United have made some terrible decisions in the past.
And the latest one is seemingly costing us dearly.
West Ham made some really big changes in the summer, with Julen Lopetegui coming into the London Stadium to replace David Moyes.
In addition to that, nine new players joined the Hammers whilst 12 left the club.
However, Lopetegui has really struggled to get his new signings to gel together, and he now faces the sack if we lose our next two games.
Things have gone from bad to worse recently, and yet another squad overhaul is required over the next two windows.
Considering how much money the Hammers spent in the summer, something isn’t right is it?
West Ham’s £710k per minute bill proves something is very wrong
The Hammers are obviously struggling on the pitch right now.
However, our problems run deeper than just match-day performances from the players.
Recent recruitment needs to be looked at – it just hasn’t been good enough by a long stretch if you ask me.
Out of the nine new arrivals, two in particular raised some eyebrows at the time, and they are still doing that now.
The Hammers signed Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme from Borussia Dortmund and Palmeiras respectively for a combined £52.5 million.
However, the German has suffered serious injury problems whilst the Brazilian clearly isn’t up to speed at the very highest level.
Things aren’t looking great for either of them really.
Negligent waste of money from West Ham
The West Ham duo have played just 74 minutes of Premier League football between them, meaning that the Hammers have coughed up £710k per minute for the pair so far.
That’s disgraceful really isn’t it.
West Ham didn’t need an 18-year-old winger – certainly not a £25 million one, and we were crying out for a young explosive striker – not an injury prone 31-year-old carthorse who had no experience of Premier League football.
Those two signings to me prove that Tim Steidten has underperformed.
The criticism of Julen Lopetegui is spot on – he is not the man for the job, but Steidten seems to have got away scot-free.
It’s time for a big change at West Ham, I’m talking in the managerial and director of football departments.
And the sooner that happens the better.
