Ruben Amorim is set to crush West Ham’s dreams yet again and it is surely more than a coincidence ahead of the January window.
West Ham fans are still reeling from their failed pursuit of Ruben Amorim.
Especially after it was the Hammers who rather ironically played a role in Amorim being appointed as Manchester United’s new manager.
The change in manager at Man United became intrinsically linked to the Hammers.
West Ham were the Premier League’s Grim Reaper again when Erik ten Hag was sacked after Man United’s 2-1 defeat at the London Stadium.
The Red Devils went out and hired the man who was – at one stage – West Ham’s first choice to replace David Moyes.
Much to the green envy of many Hammers supporters who were giddy at the prospect of the innovative young Portuguese boss taking over in east London.
To make the situation even more galling, Man United fans are already absolutely loving Amorim.
So are the media.
Merciless Amorim uses West Ham plans against them
The sense of jealousy had been made stronger by West Ham’s awful form and performances under Julen Lopetegui.
Although there has been a glimmer of hope this week after the Irons pulled off a shock deserved 2-0 win at Newcastle to keep the Spaniard in a job.
West Ham and Man United are both in unacceptable positions in the Premier League table, sitting 14th and 12th respectively.
The congested nature of the top flight this season means Europe is still well within reach for both clubs, though.
With that in mind eyes are starting to turn to the January transfer window.
The Hammers and Manchester United are looking to make signings when the window opens in just over four weeks.
There are clear deficiencies in both teams.
That’s obvious from their league positions and performances so far this season.
The trouble is West Ham may have shot themselves in the foot by giving the game away to Amorim when they interviewed him earlier this year.
Now merciless Amorim is using West Ham’s plans against them with a crushing Man United double move.
When the Portuguese flew to London for talks with majority owner David Sullivan and technical director Tim Steidten, transfer plans would undoubtedly have been a major topic of conversation.
In the end the package to bring Amorim and his staff, including compensation, was just too rich for West Ham.
Man United are one of – if not the – biggest clubs in world football, so it was not an issue for them to pay off Ten Hag and foot the bill for their new boss.
The size difference between the two clubs could also hurt the Hammers in January.
Especially as it seems Amorim is going after two of West Ham’s alleged targets.

Crushing Man United double move for Hammers targets
And it could kill any West Ham hopes of landing two players very much in the club’s sights.
Steidten has been lining up a big move for Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush.
He’s a serious target for the Hammers with the thinking being he will replace Mohammed Kudus in east London.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with the 25-year-old.
In fact a European football expert recently claimed he believes West Ham are behind a Premier League bid for Egyptian star Marmoush.
The attacking midfielder is the best player in the Bundesliga this season.
But, rather coincidentally, now Amorim has told Man United he wants Marmoush at Old Trafford.
The source of that revelation is Florian Plettenberg – a German journalist with ties to Steidten.
If Man United are rivalling West Ham for Marmoush then there may be only one winner.
He’s not the only reported West Ham target Amorim wants either.
West Ham put off signing a new left-back in the summer and instead handed soon-to-be 35-year-old Aaron Cresswell a new one-year deal.
Emerson Palmieri is now in his 30s too and has – like most of the West Ham team – been blowing hot and cold all year.
Graeme Bailey recently claimed the Hammers are lining up a move for Ben Chilwell in January.
That was after Enzo Maresca confirmed he has no future under him at Chelsea.
Bailey claimed West Ham are big admirers of Chilwell and the terms Chelsea are offering – a loan with option – would suit the Hammers down to the ground.
It was claimed that deal is sitting there waiting to be done well ahead of the window opening.
But Amorim, rather suspiciously given his talks with the Hammers a few months ago, now wants Chilwell at Manchester United.
That’s according to transfer reporter Rudy Galetti.
The Italian journalist states Amorim wants a new left-back in the winter window.
He says those Chilwell terms would also be convenient for the Red Devils.
The only hope for the Hammers is that the London factor plays into their hands.
And the fact Amorim is also said to be eyeing Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri and their former player Alvaro Carreras.
