The West Ham United fans could be forgiven for feeling pretty low right about now.
Arsenal dismantled West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday, and the 2024/25 Premier League season now seems like it will be a real struggle.
Julen Lopetegui is feeling the heat once again, and he apparently has six games left to save his job.
Quite what points return he needs hasn’t been made clear.
However, failing to beat Leicester City and Wolves in our next two games could prove to be the end for him.
Some of the football we’ve witnessed this season has been absolutely turgid, and annoyingly, it now seems like last week’s win over Newcastle was nothing more than a false dawn.
The players have to come out firing against Leicester on Tuesday and make a big statement, if Lopetegui is to get the fans back onside.
And there is one very good bit of news for the Hammers ahead of the match that a lot of people are forgetting about.
Mohammed Kudus to fire West Ham back to life
Everything seems to be pretty bleak at the London Stadium right now.
However, we have a really winnable run of five games between now and Boxing Day, and the outcome of that batch of fixtures will end up defining our season.
It all starts with a trip to the East Midlands to take on Leicester City on Tuesday night.
And there is a huge positive just sitting there and waiting for all the Hammers fans ahead of the clash with the Foxes.
That is the fact that Mohammed Kudus is set to return to action, having been unavailable for selection since mid-October.
After getting sent-off against Tottenham, the Ghana international stormed straight down the tunnel, and you could see that he knew he had let his teammates down.
Now he has a chance to redeem himself, but I’ve not heard many people talking about his belated return!
I guess that Kudus has been missing for so long, we have become accustomed to seeing starting lineups without his name.
Mohammed Kudus can turn West Ham’s season around
The truth of the matter is that we’ve missed him badly, in spite of what some fans will tell you about Crysencio Summerville’s ability.
Yes, the 23-year-old is an elite young talent, but he’s just not in the same league as Kudus – it really is as simple as that.
Since joining the Hammers from Ajax in the summer of 2023, thee 24-year-old forward has bagged 16 goals and seven assists in 55 games (Transfermarkt).
The scary thing is that there is so much more to come from Mohammed Kudus at West Ham.
The Ghanaian superstar is absolutely electric, and when he manages to fine-tune his decision making inside the final third, he will be unplayable.
He’s easily good enough to rack up 30 goal contributions in a single season.
And having him back and available for selection will be a truly wonderful thing for the Hammers.
