Manchester City are reportedly weighing up an approach for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for Kyle Walker.
The Premier League champions initially considered a move for their former academy player at the back end of last season.
With Walker having had a difficult campaign so far, the need to bring in a fresh face at right-back has become more urgent. Asked whether Frimpong should be signed, the majority of fans on X agreed:
Yes bring him back home 🥺🩵🩵

Frimpong has had a strong start to the season
The 23-year-old has scored 2 goals and provided 7 assists in his first 19 appearances this campaign. He was also an integral figure as Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title back in May, finishing the 2023/24 season with 26 goal involvements overall.
There are some question marks over whether Frimpong can play in a back four. His best performances have come as a wingback so he would need to improve defensively, but he does seem to be a genuine target for City
City could face competition for the player
Pep Guardiola’s side are not the only Premier League club who have been credited with an interest in Frimpong.
Manchester United have been monitoring the Dutchman for some time and he would fit perfectly into Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. Liverpool, meanwhile, have also been linked with a move if they need to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.
