Vincent Kompany’s time as head coach of Bayern Munich has so far been brief, but Josip Stanišić’s time of working with him has even briefer. Injured virtually right before the season started, Stanišić has only been available to play for less than a month, at the time of writing. Yet the Croatian defender fully stands behind Vincent Kompany and his expertise:
“He has brought a new spirit to the team,” Stanišić said, via @iMiaSanMia. “Since he was a defender himself, he really appreciates defending and pushes us. It could be a very successful season with him.”
It may help that Kompany is not Thomas Tuchel, who granted Stanišić a grand total of just 1 start before dumping him out on loan to Bayer Leverkusen, where, of course, we all know what happened. But, equally, it really does seem that Kompany has buy in from all the players. Such unwavering confidence is key to success for any manager, but especially so at Bayern.
