Jack Grealish revels in silencing Real Madrid legend Guti, dredging up his comments about how he ‘doesn’t dribble past anyone’ after Man City’s first leg draw… before he was left flabbergasted by second leg mauling
Jack Grealish has hit back at Real Madrid legend Guti following Manchester City’s thrashing of the Spanish giants, having been criticised by the former midfielder after the first leg stalemate.
Madrid and City could not be separated in the first leg at the Bernabeu, with Kevin De Bruyne’s second-half strike cancelling out Vinicius Jr’s first-half opener.
After that game, Guti was not impressed by Pep Guardiola’s tactics, and singled Grealish out as a player who was not a concern for his ex-club.
‘The coaches have changed roles, now the bold one is Ancelotti and the defensive one is Guardiola,’ Guti told Spanish channel El Chringuito.
‘Manchester City have less offensively. They used to have two full-backs who came in like lightning from the back and now they don’t. They put in Bernardo Silva, who is not a winger, and they lose a player there.

Grealish has hit back at Guti after enjoying the fact he silenced the former Madrid star
‘City have Jack Grealish, who doesn’t dribble past anyone. In the Premier League he might outsmart everyone, but I haven’t seen him in the Champions League.’
Guti’s words came back to haunt him on Wednesday night, with Grealish and Silva running Madrid ragged at the Etihad Stadium.
Silva scored City’s first two goals and picked up the player of the match award, while Grealish gave Dani Carvajal a torrid time and was heavily involved throughout as Guardiola’s side sealed a 4-0 win to progress to the Champions League final.
Guti was back in the studio to react to the match for El Chiringuito, and the show started with him sitting in complete silence for several minutes, clearly shocked at what he had just seen.
Grealish could not help adding salt to the wounds as he posted a zipped-face emoji on Twitter on Friday evening, evidently happy that he’d managed to silence Guti.
The 27-year-old has only registered one assist in 12 appearances in the Champions League this season, and is yet to find the net himself.
However, he has become a crucial part of Guardiola’s starting XI, and after his display against Madrid he now holds the record for most chances created by an English player in a single Champions League campaign.

Grealish went past Frank Lampard’s mark of 34 for Chelsea from the 2007-08 season, with the winger now on 35 with one game still to go.
He looks almost certain to start that match as City prepare to take on Inter Milan in the final in Istanbul on June 10.
He is also likely to be named in the starting line-up against Chelsea tomorrow, with City knowing that a win will seal their third straight Premier League title.
They then face arch-rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at the start of next month, as they look to emulate the Red Devils’ 1998-99 team by winning the treble.
