Jersey Swap: Nedilijko Labrovic
The Augsburg and Croatian goalkeeper was essential to FC Augsburg’s defense today, despite conceding an eventual three goals to Bayern Munich. In his defense, two of those were penalties, which are statistically much harder to save. Labrovic put in a stellar performance between the posts tonight, making eleven different saves, which is no small feat. The goal conceded, aside from the penalties, would have gone past almost any keeper, and so the jersey swap award still goes to him.
Der Kaiser: Kim Min-jae
Fans are slowly getting used to the Korean defender’s improved performances, but with every game that he starts in, his defensive abilities simply improve consistently. Today was no different. Kim made some crucial recoveries, clearances and interceptions. An argument could be made for Alphonso Davies’ performance tonight as well, and so a shout out goes to the Canadian too.
Fußballgott: Leon Goretzka
Yeah…you read that right. Surprisingly, the out of favor German was the most in form midfielder for Bayern Munich today, and actually put in a really good performance. He even recorded an assist during the full 90 minutes he played as well as created some really big chances for Bayern. His game was still not exactly up to the mark, but nevertheless, it was the best performance he has put in in a long time.
Der Bomber: Jamal Musiala
Shock. The Bayern youngster makes the list again, and… well, no one is actually shocked. While Musiala didn’t play the whole game, he was the ideal support to Harry Kane for the time he was on the pitch. He created chances, took shots, and was overall a major threat to FC Augsburg tonight. Like Goretzka, his game was not quite up to the mark today, but it wasn’t exactly a challenging match either.
Meister of the Match: Harry Kane
The English striker does it again. Kane recorded yet another hat-trick to add to his tally, and no one’s even surprised anymore. He took shots, won penalties, and converted (mostly) the opportunities he got — precisely what a striker should be doing. The Englishman’s triple ensured all three points for Bayern tonight, and although he left it late in the game, he showed up when it counted.
