Man United are prepared to sweeten the deal with David de Gea, by offering him a testimonial.

David de Gea has come in for some heavy criticism recently, following a mistake against West Ham. However, he was superb against Bournemouth this weekend, reaffirming the belief that he still has gas left in the tank.
It has been widely reported that De Gea still remains locked in contract talks with the Old Trafford club. Though as of yet, the deal hasn’t been completed…
Now, The Star on Sunday have provided us the latest information on that front. Apparently, United are set to offer a testimonial to the star, in order to end the current contract standoff…
De Gea now needs to decide whether to accept the huge pay cut that’s currently on offer from United, or look to move elsewhere.
United are looking to cut De Gea’s £375,000-a-week wages down to around £200,000-a-week, which would be a massive money save for the Red Devils should they pull it off.
I guess, for De Gea, it’s about weighing up whether he can get £200k-a-week+ elsewhere. I’d honestly be surprised.
It’s also worth noting that De Gea may not be the outright number one next season. The club are still weighing up their options in that regard. Dean Henderson is a possibility, as is a new signing like David Raya.
What I will say is that De Gea deserves a testimonial regardless. It shouldn’t be used as a bargaining tool. He deserves that occasion for the incredible service he has given this club over the last 10+ years.
