Man United have eyes on Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, as a possible long-term option at striker.
It’s now common knowledge that Manchester United need a new striker. The Old Trafford club do not have that forward who guarantees goals. It could go a long way towards closing the gap on Manchester City.
Harry Kane feels like the top transfer target, with the Spurs man having a big decision to make this summer. However, aged 29, he’d only be at the top level for a few years before another forward is required.
That’s where Man United interest in Brighton’s Evan Ferguson comes in.
It’s Sky Sports News with the claim. They state that United have ‘earmarked’ the 18-year-old as a ‘strong candidate’ to fill the striker position next summer.
Apparently, Tottenham Hotspur are in the same situation, as they also look to move for the Republic of Ireland striker.
Ferguson scored twice over the weekend, looking like a top prospect as he continues to rise his own personal stock.
The forward recently signed a contract until 2028, committing his short-term future to Brighton, while all-but-ruling out the possibility of a transfer this summer.
Brighton themselves believe Ferguson could turn into a £100m player if he continues to develop at this rate. Hence, it’s in their best interests to hold onto the striker for as long as possible, increasing his transfer value in the process.
The striker has been attracting interest from the top sides since the age of 14, with Ferguson now showing that he has what it takes to play in the Premier League.
There can be no doubt he’d be a stunning acquisition if the club could somehow pull it off in the future, though credit to Brighton, who have proven themselves as tough negotiators over the last couple of seasons.
