David de Gea – Had a relatively quiet evening. Couldn’t do anything about the late consolation goal. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Encouraged to go forward often. Duly obliged. Defended well. Particularly in the 1v1. 6/10
Victor Lindelof – Another solid outing. He’s looking good alongside Rapha Varane. 6/10
Raphael Varane – Had a pretty good night after being tested heavily by Chelsea in the first 45 minutes. 6/10
Luke Shaw – Subbed off at half-time with a ‘slight’ back injury. Did have a solid first 45 minutes before picking up the knock. 5/10
Casemiro – Set United on their way with a glorious header. Was involved in the second goal, too. As excellent as ever when it came to mopping things up. 8/10
Christian Eriksen – Played an inch-perfect free-kick into Casemiro for the opener. Kept things ticking over in midfield. 6/10
Bruno Fernandes – A positive display was eventually rewarded with a goal from the penalty spot. 7/10
Antony – Started brightly. Threatened the Chelsea defence. Unfortunately subbed off before the half-hour mark with a serious-looking injury. 6/10
Jadon Sancho – Looked confident at times. Showed a desire to be direct. There were a few wrong decisions made, though. 5/10
Anthony Martial – Scored the second. Moved well throughout his time on the field. His first touch wasn’t as sharp as he’d like it to be. 5/10
Subs:
Marcus Rashford – Looked a yard off it as he builds his way back to fitness. Did grab a goal, though.
Tyrell Malacia – Filled in nicely. Never troubled in that left-back position.
Fred – Added extra energy and bite to the midfield.
Alejandro Garnacho – Looked lively against a tired Chelsea back line.
Scott McTominay – Brought on to help see out the game.
