Bayern Munich flipped the script in five minutes of stoppage time — and turned a match that was headed towards another narrow win over an outmatched opponent into a satisfying rout, 3-0 over FC Augsburg.
But this time, it could be argued, it was always headed that way.
After struggling to mount a sustained threat in the first half, the Bavarians exploded out of the gates in the second — the pressure building and building until two penalties and a delightful Kane clincher, courtesy a wondrous Leon Goretzka assist, sealed the deal.
And that’s how quickly you can rewrite a narrative.
Now the Bavarians roar out of the international period buoyant — and ready to face a stretch of matches that includes Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Borussia Dortmund.
