Just hours before Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over FC Augsburg, an odd story broke from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg indicating that Max Eberl reiterated to Leon Goretzka that he was no longer needed and that the club would like to sell him this winter or next summer.
Well…Goretzka went out, played 90 minutes, assisted on Harry Kane’s 50th Bundesliga goal, completed 89% of his passes, won three of his six ground duels, won three of his four aerial duels, and only lost possession 10 times.
All-in-all, it was a very solid effort from Goretzka…and one that Eberl would have to address after the match given the story that dropped.
“We spoke to him in the summer and he decided to stay. We are happy that he’s here. He’s an important part of the team. We will discuss what the future holds with him again,” Eberl told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Hmm…
Would a good run of play from Goretzka and a rave review from Vincent Kompany change Eberl’s mind?
