Our predicted MUFC XI for the 2022/23 home game vs Fulham is now in.
Manchester United play their final Premier League game of the 2022/23 season at Old Trafford tomorrow. Fulham are the visitors, with a third place finish at stake.
Better Newcastle United’s result and the Red Devils will finish third. Allow Newcastle to better our result and it’ll be a fourth spot. Either would be a positive step in the right direction for United, though finishing third sounds so much better…
The dilemma for Ten Hag here is that the 20-time Premier League winners have their sights focused on an FA Cup final, first and foremost. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see some rotation.
The gaffer will want to wrap his key players up in cotton wool, having their minds solely fixated on beating Manchester City in the Wembley showpiece. The harsh reality is that in some positions, United do not have the depth to do that.
Anyway, with that in mind, let’s get right into the all-important team news.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI for the 2022/23 home game vs Fulham in full:
David de Gea remains the only reliable goalkeeper United have, so I’d fully expect the Spaniard to keep his position in the team here.
Diogo Dalot will get the chance to impress the gaffer at right-back. The same goes for Tyrell Malacia in that left-back position. Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane will remain the back two partnership – purely because the lack of other options aren’t as good.
Scott McTominay and Fred was once the go-to midfield pairing here at Old Trafford. The duo will reunite, possibly for the final time, with the former being eyed for summer transfer. I do not love the idea of Bruno Fernandes starting here, but again, it’s a necessity.
Wout Weghorst has worked hard and given his all for that badge on his chest. He deserves a start here, while he’ll also get a great sendoff from the fans. To his right and left respectively is Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho. I’m particularly excited to see what the latter can do.
