It has been an eventful season at Bayern Munich for all the wrong reasons. They ended the campaign brilliantly by winning the Bundesliga title. It was their 11th consecutive title. However, the aftermath of the win was largely dominated by the sacking of the sporting director and CEO.
Die Roten decided to part ways with Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn last week due to a poor campaign on the pitch. The duo had a big role to play in the decision-making process, so the supervisory board decided to part ways with him.
Hasan Salihamidzic left Bayern on amicable terms. He travelled to Cologne with the squad for the last Bundesliga game of the season. The former Bayern midfielder was seen celebrating the title win with the players on the pitch last weekend.
Meanwhile, Kahn’s reign came to an end on a sour note. The former German goalkeeper was not allowed to travel with the squad to Cologne on Saturday. Kahn was deeply disappointed with the club’s decision to part ways with him, while Salihamidzic took the decision on the chin.

The departures of Kahn and Salihamidzic shocked Thomas Tuchel. They had played a big role in bringing Tuchel to Bayern at the end of March. Tuchel was appointed as the new head coach after Julian Nagelsmann was sacked for inconsistent performances throughout the season.
Former Bayern midfielder Dietmar Hamann insisted that Thomas Tuchel may also walk away after the sacking of Kahn and Salihamidzic. However, Sky Sports in Germany and Fabrizio Romano have confirmed that Tuchel has no plans to leave Bayern this summer. The German coach is looking forward to the pre-season training.
Bayern President Herbert Hainer also cleared doubts over Tuchel’s future during the press conference on Sunday. Die Roten is set to back him in the summer transfer window by adding players in the key areas of the squad. The record Bundesliga champions are expected to spend big on a striker and defensive midfielder.

Things have not gone as per plan for Tuchel since arriving in Bavaria. He would have hoped to win at least one cup competition considering the quality of the squad. Nevertheless, he will be pleased with the Bundesliga win. There will be more consistency in performances from next season once Thomas Tuchel gets to have a complete pre-season with the squad. The Bavarian faithful and Bayern chiefs will hope that Tuchel takes them back to pinnacle of the European football.
