Man United are showing interest in signing Benjamin Pavard this summer.
It’s no surprise to learn that Manchester United are looking to sign a new centre-half this summer, with the Old Trafford club keen on acquiring another top-level defender, presumably to rotate with Raphael Varane.
Harry Maguire could well be out of the exit door over the next few months, with the United club captain struggling for minutes, so they’ll be a whole there that needs to be filled.
Erik ten Hag is clearly doing his research, with several names already linked with an Old Trafford switch.
The latest story comes from France, namely L’Equipe, with the translation coming via Get Football News France. It’s Benjamin Pavard who the Old Trafford club are now looking at.
According to GFNF, United have placed the 27-year-old ‘at the top of their shortlist’ of centre-backs they’d like to sign this summer. Barcelona have also been in regular contact with the Frenchman.
Pavard is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer, with the defender having no intention of renewing his deal in Bavaria. The Bundesliga winners will likely look to cash in now, rather than losing him for nothing in twelve months’ time.
Although Pavard can play at right-back, he is prioritising a transfer to a club who are willing to give him starts at the centre-half position. Even though United may plan to use him like that, it’s good to know he’s capable of playing at right-back if absolutely necessary.
This would be a good piece of business if United can bring in Pavard at the right price, though I’d imagine they’ll be plenty of interested parties when the summer window actually opens.
