Phil Jones has paid a touching tribute to the Man United fans, who have stood by him all this time.
Manchester United are progressing under Erik ten Hag. As a result, several players will find themselves out of the exit door this coming summer.
Among those is Phil Jones. The Englishman, as we all know, has been struck down hard by injuries. It’s a massive shame as when he was younger, the talent was obviously there. His body just never held up.
It has been confirmed that Jones will leave United this summer on a free transfer, with Ten Hag freeing up a place in the squad, while also clearing the Englishman’s wages off the books.
The man himself had been pretty quiet for the most part, until today. The 31-year-old took to Twitter to express his thanks to the United fans, as he prepares for his club exit this summer.

Honestly, it’s just nice to see Jones express his gratitude. He could have gone another way, expressing his frustration at the situation, particularly with some sections of the fanbase sharing less-than-kind messages about the ex-Blackburn man.
Jones understands that this all happened through no fault of anyone’s in particular. Sadly, the body just gave way.
In terms of what the future holds for Jones, I’m not so sure. I’d imagine he’ll get some offers from lower leagues side, most likely on some sort of pay-to-play deal. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he takes the decision to retire as he’s made more than most will make in a lifetime already.
Whatever decision is taken, I just hope Jones is at peace with everything. I still would have liked to see him given a testimonial, but that’s now a thing of the past.
Thanks for everything, Phil!
