Man United have learned how much the Rasmus Hojlund transfer fee would be this summer.
Manchester United have been linked with every striker under the sun already, with the summer transfer window not even officially open for a little while, yet.
Harry Kane is undoubtedly the top target, though prising him away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer may be pretty tough. That means Erik ten Hag has had to look elsewhere and weigh up other options.
Rasmus Hojlund is among those other potential strikers United could look to move for. The young Dane has enjoyed a breakout campaign for Atalanta in Serie A, scoring goals galore for both club and country.
Football Insider now have more details, with United learning it’ll cost at least £52m (€60m) to sign Hojlund, just a year after he made the move to Italy.
A well-placed source told United view Hojlund as a player with ‘huge potential’, as they look to refresh their strike force, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The ex-Copenhagen man has had a whirlwind twelve months, showcasing his abilities at a supremely high level.
United need someone who can transform their striker position. Someone who’ll guarantee goals, while also leading the press. It’s not an easy job for a player with bags of experience, so it’s anyone’s guess how Hojlund adapts to the challenge.
With this sort of move, fan patience will be key. Hojlund will show inconsistencies, at least for a few years, before starting to transform into that world-class talent that he absolutely is.
There’s no manager I’d trust more than Ten Hag to nurture that ability, so if this is the route that United decide to take, I’d be all for it.
