Man United are showing a real interest in signing Kim Min-jae this summer.
As of this morning, it’s full speed ahead for Manchester United in the transfer window. The Old Trafford club simply have to get it right over the next few months, in order to bridge the gap between ourselves and Manchester City.
The spine of the team needs real work. Goalkeeper, and striker should be the main priority, while a new centre-back may also be required – even more so if Harry Maguire leaves.
Kim Min-jae has been linked with a Napoli exit this summer, due to a relatively reasonable release clause in his contract, which becomes active for two weeks at the start of July.
Journalist Alfredo Pedulla has the latest in regard to United’s pursuit of the South Korean. Apparently, United have a ‘strong interest’ in the 26-year-old, while two meetings have already taken place. There are ‘no signs’ a deal is close at the moment.
The salary would be around €6-7m per season, while new meetings are scheduled. Min-jae’s release clause stands at £52m (€60m).
Min-jae would be an unreal signing. He is one of the best centre-halves in Europe at the moment. And at a really good price.
However, United would have to act quickly. They’d have two weeks to get this deal done, while club ownership still remains up in the air. It’s a fine balancing act for a club that have struggled in the off-season over the last decade or so…
This would be a signing that adds genuine depth to United’s defence – though United absolutely have to spread their funds over four or five different positions during this window.
