Manchester City are lining up a big offer for Inter Milan playmaker Nicolo Barella, according to reports in the Italian media.
Manager Pep Guardiola is believed to be a fan of the 26-year-old, who his team will come up against in the Champions League final this weekend.
Considering Barella’s outstanding pedigree, it is not surprising to see that fans on Twitter are very much behind the Citizens making a move for the midfielder:

Finally Pep sighted Barella, i’ve always talked about how underrated he was with such a high work rate. One of my best midfielders outside the PL!

An ideal replacement for Bernardo Silva or Ilkay Gundogan
Barella has been an outstanding player for both club and country over the past four to five years and he has attracted a lot of interest from other Premier League teams.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United and Arsenal were also considering bids for the 26-year-old.
If Barella does leave Inter, though, you would think that City would have the greatest pulling power. With the possible departures of Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan as well, the Premier League champions would have a greater incentive to push the boat out to sign him.
Barella won’t come cheap
It has been claimed that Inter won’t let the Italian leave for less than €80m (£69m), which is probably a fair price considering his ability.
This season, Barella has scored nine goals and contributed 10 assists in 51 appearances, having also played an instrumental role in helping his team reach an unlikely Champions League final.
