Man United are still intent on pushing to sign Mason Mount, though the deal is not progressing at the moment.
Club ownership at Manchester United remains up in the air. The Glazer family are still in control – and will be for a little while yet…
With that said, money will have to spent on new players to allow Erik ten Hag to continue to move this team forward. Several names have been linked. No doubt that will continue.
The biggest link so far is Mason Mount. We get the impression this transfer will definitely rumble on for quite some time, with mutual interest from both sides.
Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter late last night to share his latest information on the brewing saga. He stated that United have ‘sent messages’ to the player, ‘confirming intention’ to push for the transfer to happen over the next days.
Personal terms are not an issue, with Mount keen on an Old Trafford switch.
There is a hold-up in the deal, as Chelsea refuse to budge from their almost £70m asking price. Obviously, that’s a steep fee given Mount has just one year left on his contract.
Romano has stated that the deal is ‘not over’, with United continuing to work towards a positive conclusion.
I’m certainly warming to a move for Mount. This feels like a signing that would improve United in many aspects, though the price absolutely has to be right.
With limited funds available due to FFP and ownership status, United have to play this very carefully. They do not want to spend the lion’s share of their summer budget on one midfielder.
I’d expect this saga to rumble on for a while yet.
