Kim Min-jae is now looking likely to join Man United.
Manchester United are yet to make a signing, though the links have been plentiful. The Red Devils’ current club ownership could be playing its part on that front.
Central defence is among the areas where Erik ten Hag is looking to make a change. Kim Min-jae‘s name has popped up at least a few times a week recently, with the man from South Korea looking like hot property among Europe’s elite.
Italian media outlet, Il Mattino, have been on the story from the get-go. Their latest information is certainly interesting, with the translation coming via Sport Witness.
It’s another bold claim from the Naples-based source, who state that the 26-year-old is ‘sure’ to join Man United next month. Apparently, United will pay Kim’s release clause, which comes into effect on July 1st, and will be active for a fortnight.
On top of that, the player has ‘accepted’ the Reds’ offer in terms of wages. Min-jae is set to pocket £9m a year at the Theatre of Dreams, which works out at around £175,000-a-week.
Again, this feels like Kim is arguably United’s top priority signing this summer. There’s still doubts about Harry Maguire’s future at the club, with the man from South Korea a definite upgrade on the Reds’ current club captain.
The 26-year-old, who will cost a little over £40m, would be an elite addition for pretty much any side in world football. Hence why I do not believe United will have it all their own way, with multiple clubs likely to active the release clause.
It would also be helpful if United had some clarity on the ownership front before then, though I doubt a takeover will be completed in a little over a fortnight.
