Anthony Martial is expected to be fit for pre-season, though his future at the club remains up in the air.
Manchester United’s dressing room is expected to look a little different come the start of the season, as Erik ten Hag looks to overhaul the squad.
These things take time, while the Dutchman’s job at United is made harder due to the fact that the Reds squad is filled with overpaid players who are proving hard to move on…
One man who fits that bill is Anthony Martial. Although the Frenchman came to Old Trafford with promise aplenty, it’s fair to say he’s never fulfilled that potential.
The Telegraph have provided the latest on Martial’s future. The good news? The United star ‘should recover’ in time for pre-season. The bad news? His future at the club is still uncertain.
Martial is one of a ‘host’ of first-teamers who could be sold this summer, as Ten Hag looks to go out and sign a top-class centre-forward as a priority.
With twelve months (with the option for a further year) on his contract, Martial could be available at a decent price for any prospective buyer. However, his sale would mean Ten Hag would have to sign two strikers this summer.
The situation isn’t helped by the six-to-eight week injury layoff Martial faces after suffering a hamstring tear. Obviously, his horrific treatment table time is another factor that has to be considered. His lack of availability is pretty alarming…
In our opinion, a move away feels like the best situation for all involved. Martial is still a good player, I just think he needs a change of scenery on a permanent basis in order to restore his confidence levels.
