Harry Kane is still holding out hope for a Man United transfer this summer.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with signing all kinds of strikers this summer. Young and old, expensive and cheap, the lot.
Erik ten Hag’s dream signing remains Harry Kane. The Englishman has one year left on his contract at Tottenham Hotspur, meaning the London club find themselves in a genuine predicament in regard to potentially letting him go.
However, in typical Daniel Levy fashion, Spurs are remaining firm. They’re currently refusing to sell Kane for anything less than £100m. For a man of his age, in his current contract predicament, that’s an awful lot of money. As a result, United called time on their pursuit of the number nine.
Well, Kane himself is not giving up the ghost that easily. Apparently, he ‘still hopes’ United will ‘resurrect’ their bid to sign him this summer. That’s according to the Daily Mail.
United have ‘made it clear’ they will not spend the £100m asking price for Kane. However, a price ‘closer’ to £80m could bring the Red Devils back to the negotiating table.
Ten Hag has a preference to sign a striker with Premier League experience, with Kane fitting that bill perfectly.
Levy has made it clear that he will not sell to a Premier League side this summer, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also both showing an interest. However, Kane would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
Kane’s preference is United. However there’s a reluctance on all sides that suggests Levy will stick to his guns this summer.
I have to be honest, I do not get it. Levy is throwing away the best part of £80m, in order to lose Kane, most likely to another Premier League side, for nothing next summer.
