Hannibal Mejbri is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund, among other clubs this summer.
Erik ten Hag is a manager who does not have time for passengers – regardless of their age. If you’re young and waiting for an opportunity, it will not come at Manchester United unless you grab it.
Zidane Iqbal learned that the hard way. He’s now all set to move to FC Utrecht on a permanent deal.
Now, the Manchester Evening News have provided an update on the future of another young midfielder; Hannibal Mejbri.
The midfielder is attracting transfer interest from Borussia Dortmund this summer. They’re just one of the sides monitoring the midfielder, who used to ply his trade for AS Monaco. It’s stated he faces an ‘uncertain future’ with the Reds.
It’s understood the club are interested in signing the 20-year-old United starlet for a fee in the region of £12.9m (€15m), which would be a minimal profit on the £8-10m United paid to sign Hannibal.
The Reds are set to give Hannibal a chance on pre-season tour before deciding what’ll happen with the midfielder, though Ten Hag has made it clear only ‘world-class’ prospects will get the chance under him.
Clearly, there is no room for passengers during this current regime, while you’ll have to earn your opportunities to play under Ten Hag. It’s a ruthlessness we’re not really used to as United fans, though it is a welcome change.
The first-team squad is already jam-packed with players, hence, it’s going to take something, or someone, pretty special to break into the fold. Alejandro Garnacho is the only one who has been able to accomplish that thus far, while Kobbie Mainoo certainly has a good chance at following suit.
