Man United have eyes on Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo, with a deal for Mason Mount looking dead in the water.
Manchester United have made three bids for Mason Mount. They’ve all been turned down, though the Red Devils are reluctant to give up on the Englishman.
However, the Old Trafford side are keeping their options open, rather than putting their eggs in one basket. That’s according to talkSPORT.
According to their story, they’re now pursuing a 21-year-old Premier League star as a Mason Mount alternative. The man they have eyes on is Moises Caicedo.
The Brighton man has been heavily linked with an exit this summer, with several big clubs circling around for the signature of the Ecuadorian, including United.
A deal for Caicedo will not come cheap, though, with Brighton valuing Caicedo at a similar figure to Declan Rice. That fee is around £100m.
Whether United are prepared to pay that much to sign Caicedo is a question that remains to be answered. However, talkSPORT believe that United’s pursuit of Mount is not yet over at this stage, so do not be surprised to see the club go back in with another bid.
Caicedo is a few years younger than Mount, and not *that* much more expensive given the respective contract situations. Honestly, I’d much prefer United to go for Caicedo. He was outstanding against United in the three meetings last season, including giving Casemiro a really tough time in the FA Cup semi-final.
This is genuinely the sort of signing that can transform a side. Yes, it would not be cheap, though there’s a reason why Brighton value Caciedo so highly. He’s an absolute machine.
