Man United are seemingly edging closer to completing a move to sign Andre Onana.
Manchester United are now days away from losing David de Gea on a free transfer. Initially, it looked like the Spaniard was going to stay at Old Trafford, albeit on reduced terms.
However, as time has progressed, it’s looked likelier and likelier that De Gea will walk away from the club and become a free agent.
That means United will now have to dedicate more of their transfer budget towards signing a top-class number one shot-stopper. Inter Milan’s Andre Onana has been the name most-linked with a potential Reds switch recently.
On Monday, Sport Witness relayed some information from Sport Mediaset, suggesting that a deal to sign Onana may not be too far away.
According to their report, the 27-year-old is ‘destined’ for Man United, with the player now ‘one step away’ from sealing an Old Trafford transfer.
Sport Mediaset’s story is backed up by the fact that Inter are now looking elsewhere for a new goalkeeper of their own.
With a lack of Champions League football on the table, the Serie A club will have to generate some funds through player sales and no doubt they’ll get a more than fair transfer fee for Onana.
In terms of stylistic fit, there’s probably nobody better out there than the man from Cameroon. Sure, he will not come cheaply, though he’s worked with Ten Hag before, meaning he should be able to slot into the United team pretty seamlessly.
let’s hope that a potential move doesn’t drag on for weeks, particularly with pre-season now just around the corner. The sooner this move is signed and sealed, the better it’ll be for all parties involved.
