Man United have been given a huge lift, with Lisandro Martinez set to be fit for pre-season.
It can be argued that Manchester United’s season was effectively over when Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane went down with injury in the same game.
The defensive duo were outstanding up until that point, with ‘The Butcher of Amsterdam’ being ruled out for the remainder of the season.
It was a serious injury that threatened to derail the start of the 2023/24 season. However, a few days ago, we had pictures of Licha back out on the training field – leaving us all feeling positive.
Well, journalist Gaston Edul has further offered a boost to United, confirming the key star is in the ‘final stage’ of his recovery. He will be fully fit for pre-season tour in a few weeks’ time.
It goes without saying, this is huge news. The importance of a full pre-season for any player cannot be understated, as it means he’ll go into the serious stuff as close to 100% as possible.
Martinez’s debut season at Old Trafford was pretty special. After a tough couple of games to start life in Manchester, the Argentine quickly begin to prove his worth with some truly colossal performances.
As the campaign wore on, Martinez became better and better. I genuinely believe he would’ve featured in some Premier League Team of the Season’s, if not for that injury he picked up against Sevilla.
What I like most is that Martinez seems to be loving life in Manchester. He’s adored by the fans and you get the impression that feeling is reciprocated. He’s become a cult hero at the Theatre of Dreams pretty quickly.
