Man United have been given the opportunity to rival Atletico Madrid for the signature of Sofyan Ambrabat.
Manchester United are due to announce the signing of Mason Mount today, with the Englishman set to become the Reds’ first signing of the summer.
However, the Chelsea man may not be the only midfield signing through the Old Trafford doors this summer, which is somewhat surprising.
Sofyan Amrabat has recently been linked with a potential United switch, following the man from Morocco having both an excellent World Cup and Serie A campaign.
The Fiorentina man has shot to stardom over the last twelve months and rightly so.
Now, 90min.com have provided an important update on his future. According to their headline, United have been ‘offered (the) chance to sign’ the 26-year-old midfielder this summer.
Apparently, United would have to rival Atletico Madrid for the signature of the top-class midfielder, with a ‘modest’ £30m asking price placed on Amrabat’s head.
United would have to act quickly, as Atleti are ‘confident’ of finalising a deal to sign Amrabat, though they’re yet to agree a fee with Fiorentina.
The Old Trafford side are said to be ‘considering their options’, though I’d be surprised to see United make a move to sign another midfielder – unless they’re selling one of Fred or Scott McTominay first.
We’ve said it multiple times, but there are other areas of the squad that need addressing over midfield, particularly after the Mount signing. United need a striker and goalkeeper as a priority, while another centre-back wouldn’t go amiss, assuming Harry Maguire leaves.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Amrabat and he’d be an upgrade. I just don’t think it should be a priority right now.
