Man United are set to improve their bid to sign Andre Onana, with personal terms already agreed.
Manchester United Football Club are now targeting a new number one following the departure of David de Gea. The Red Devils, ideally, will bring in someone who is comfortable with the ball at feet, which was the Spaniard’s biggest weakness as a goalie.
Andre Onana is attracting heavy interest from the Red Devils right now, with the man from Cameroon looking super impressive in the Champions League final a month or so ago.
Having previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, this is another move where the gaffer has familiarity in mind.
The usually reliable Fabrizio Romano has provided a pretty big update on Onana via his YouTube channel.
According to the report, United are set to improve on their bid to sign the 27-year-old, with the new offer set to be a package worth €50m (£42.7m). However, Inter want €60m (£52m). There is a belief that the two sides could reach an agreement somewhere in the middle, around the €55m (£47m) mark.
What’s interesting is that Romano has said that Onana has already said ‘yes’ to a Reds move this summer, with personal terms said to be agreed. At this point, it’s now just a waiting game as United and Inter look to agree upon a fee.
My personal opinion is that a deal will be reached in the coming days. Inter would prefer to agree to a transfer before July 13th, which is when their pre-season begins. That’s a little less than a week away, so we should expect movement quickly.
Hopefully, United can get this done before the first tour game in a couple of weeks.
