Man United still have eyes on Bayer Leverkusen right-back, Jeremie Frimpong.
Manchester United have pushed just the one signing through so far, with Mason Mount now officially a Red Devil.
Erik ten Hag will look to further strengthen the playing squad by using whatever money is still available. The Old Trafford side still need at least a few players through the door this summer.
However, I’m not sure right-back is among the major holes within the squad. Journalist Florian Plettenberg believes that Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is still a possible target.
According to the journalist, United are ‘still monitoring’ the situation of the 22-year-old defender, while the next step could depend on whether new owners are in place.
In terms of transfer fee, around £35m would get a deal done, with Frimpong considering his options at this point in time. Arsenal are also keen, though it’s not a ‘hot topic’ right now…
Primarily a right-back, Frimpong is a supremely talented player who fits the profile of signing that Ten Hag has tended to make.
However, with funds already limited, I’m not sure this would be the best use of money right now. Both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot have their strengths and weaknesses, though I’d trust them to do a good enough job next season.
Unless new owners come in, with a massive amount of funds, then I’d prefer United to focus on bringing in a striker and goalkeeper this summer.
If the budget can stretch to Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, that would absolutely have to be considered a successful window.
Assuming Frimpong could wait a year, this is something we could look into in twelve months’ time.
