Fred could exit Man United this summer, as he looks to find regular playing time at this stage of his career.
Manchester United Football Club are undergoing major change in every aspect right now. The Red Devils are performing well under Erik ten Hag, though this is only the start of the journey.
Players will be signed. Others will be sold. The Dutchman has now had a solid twelve months to identify what members of the current squad are good enough.
Well, one man who is seemingly up for grabs is Brazil international, Fred.
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk man. According to the journalist, Fred has now picked new agents. That alone hints at a player searching for a move.
Romano states that the United star ‘could leave’ this summer, with Fred attracting interest from both Fulham and Saudi Arabian clubs.
He has a year left on his deal, though the player understands that playing a ‘more important role’ is now ‘key’ for his future. Seemingly, he’s considering a move away.
Fred wasn’t first choice in midfield last season. Mason Mount has now been added to the squad, meaning he’s fallen further down the pecking order. I’d make the 30-year-old fifth choice at best.
I can completely understand United looking at cashing in during this window, in order to get some sort of transfer fee for a player who is about to leave for nothing in twelve months’ time. His sale would also free up some wages that could be invested in new signings…
I also get it for Fred. He needs to be playing regularly at this stage in his career, as he probably doesn’t know how long he has left.
